On Monday May 7th 2018 Google announced they will be banning bail bond services from advertising on Google.  Enforcement of this policy will begin on July 2018.

David Graff, director of Global Product Policy, went on to say “Today, we’re announcing a new policy to prohibit ads that promote bail bond services from our platforms. Studies show that for-profit bail bond providers make most of their revenue from communities of color and low income neighborhoods when they are at their most vulnerable, including through opaque financing offers that can keep people in debt for months or years.”

Graff went on to say “Google’s new policy is a call to action for all those in the private sector who profit off of mass incarceration. It is time to say ‘no more.'”

Google continues to regulate the industry and limit what types of businesses are allowed to advertise on Google.  For businesses in the bail bonds industry, optimizing their website for organic search will be their best option.
